Kohei Horikoshi Reveals He's Already Working on a New Manga

The creator of My Hero Academia has spoken to Marvel about his future plans.

Celebrating the release of Volume 42 of My Hero Academia. Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, recently collaborated on an exciting art project with Marvel artists Edgar Delgado and Humberto Ramos. As part of this collaboration, he also answered some questions, one of which is particularly interesting: Horikoshi is planning a new manga series!

"I am incredibly grateful for the success of My Hero Academia, but I also feel the pressure regarding my next work. Nevertheless, I want to start a new manga as soon as possible."

Horikoshi revealed that he originally only wanted to do the drawings for his next series while someone else wrote the story. However, his editor advised him to take on the story himself as well. Horikoshi agreed to this and has already started creating initial sketches for his new project.

"Actually, I only wanted to focus on drawing and have someone else write the story. But my editor said it would be better if you did everything yourself. So I started with the first drafts and sketches for my new manga. But I'm still busy with some My Hero Academia projects, so it will be a while before I can fully focus on the new one."

What Horikoshi's next manga will be about thematically is still a secret. But given his exceptional talent – both as an artist and as a storyteller – one can be sure that his new work will delight fans.

Until then, there is still a lot to come from My Hero Academia: The final season of the anime, a major exhibition, and a fan book planned for 2025 are still on the agenda.

My Hero Academia Releases Stunning Crossover Artwork with Marvel

In addition to announcing his plans for the next manga series, he also presented two truly impressive artworks featuring heroes from both universes. The collaboration with Marvel has definitely paid off.

The first image, drawn by Horikoshi, shows Spiderman – Horikoshi's absolute favorite hero from the West – along with All Might and Deku in the typical, vibrant style of My Hero Academia.

The second artwork, created by Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado, puts Black Cat in the spotlight, surrounded by popular heroines from My Hero Academia such as Star and Stripe, Mt. Lady, Mirko, Uravity, Froppy, Creati, and Lizard. Ramos' unique drawing style gives these heroines a fresh, exciting look.
