The Future of "Mobile Suit Gundam" Is Very Bright
Sunrise is currently working on multiple anime projects.

One thing is clear: Mobile Suit Gundam continues to expand its anime portfolio – and that comes as no surprise. Plans for the franchise's future were already revealed in October when General Manager Naohiro Kogata spoke on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
“The [Gundam] series, created by director Tomino Yoshiyuki – along with Yasuhiko Yoshikazu and Okawara Kunio, who developed the first Mobile Suit Gundam – has a very strong narrative structure. Although we've had the chance to make many different series, [the first series] is a foundation that works in every era,” the manager told 47 News in Japan.
So, Mobile Suit Gundam is a concept that can truly thrive in any era.
Kogata also emphasized that many projects are underway for Gundam's 50th anniversary – and that's definitely true. The Sunrise team is working on a new anime that aims to captivate fans with an innovative storyline. And to make things even more exciting, the Evangelion team is bringing a breath of fresh air and a major update to the series, giving Gundam even more momentum.
